BENEFITS OF MAJAHMA
Dinner that waits for you
Majahma is a fresh Indian tiffin, cooked from scratch in Sussex by Roo and delivered chilled to homes across Brighton & Hove, Worthing and Mid Sussex. It arrives in a stack of steel tins and sits in the fridge until you want it. When you're ready, you heat it, and a proper home-cooked Indian meal is on the table.
The benefits
What it changes about your week
Most people can cook. What wears them down is planning, shopping and cooking well every single night. Majahma makes eating well easy while giving people time back.
- Your evening backNo shopping, no chopping, no recipe to follow. The oven does the work in about 25 minutes while you get on with your night. Or the microwave in 3 minutes if you're in a rush.
- One less decisionThe menu is chosen for you each week, so "what's for dinner?" already has a good answer. We take care of dinner, you relax.
- Eating well without tryingEvery tiffin is built on vegetables, pulses and spices, with over 30 different plants in a single meal. Most people struggle to reach that across a whole week.
- Something new every weekWeeknight cooking has a way of settling into the same few dishes. Majahma's menu visits a different region of India each week, so you get to eat dishes you might never have cooked at home.
Convenience
One tiffin, however your week goes
A Majahma tiffin fits around your plans rather than the other way round. The same delivery can be any of these.
-
In the fridge
It arrives chilled by 6pm on your delivery day and keeps in the fridge for 2 days, so you pick the Majahma moment that suits you.
-
A midweek dinner
From November you can choose a Wednesday delivery, so a Majahma dinner can land in the middle of the week as well as at the end of it.
-
A night off
On the evening you can't face cooking, unstack the tins onto a baking tray and heat at 180°C for about 25 minutes. Or microwave a portion for 3 to 4 minutes.
-
Tomorrow's lunch
Each tiffin holds two to three generous portions. So today's dinner is tomorrow's lunch.
-
A weekend feast
Add samosas, bhajia bites, poppadoms and a few chutneys, and a Friday delivery becomes a Saturday night spread.
-
Friends round
Order a second tiffin to make Friday night dinner a Majahma party, add chapattis or thepla and a few sides, and the table looks like you've been cooking all day.
The food
The easy option is also the good one
Plenty of convenient dinners taste convenient. Majahma is Indian home cooking: regional dishes made from scratch in small batches, with a new menu every week that moves around India's regions.
A typical tiffin has a curry, a dal, a sabzi, and a rice dish. The menu moves around the regions week by week, from Kerala and Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka, Punjab and Rajasthan, so no two weeks taste the same. Past dishes have included a Gujarati carrot curry with fenugreek and mustard, a creamy cashew and cauliflower korma, and a kidney bean rajma.
The cook
Roo, and the original "Deliveroo-roo"
Roo has been cooking since she was six, over an open clay pot, feeding her parents and seven brothers.
For years she has made what the family calls "Deliveroo-roos": a tiffin of home cooking that keeps in the fridge and takes the pressure off mealtimes when life gets busy. Majahma is that same tiffin, cooked for more people.
The tiffin
Steel tins, swapped every delivery
Meals come in stackable stainless-steel tiffin tins that go straight into the oven and the dishwasher. Rinse them after dinner and leave them out for your next delivery: the empty set is collected and swapped for a full one.
How it works
